Anderson Halloween Bash

It's that time of year again. The Anderson Halloween Bash came and went too quickly. This year we had the addition of Addaly. She came dressed as the Cowardly Lion. Doug was the Scare Crow. And Katie was Dorothy. Mom was a cat. Trent was a member of the prestigious KGB. And I was a nerd... (he says as he posts a blog)... here you can see me studying... a dictionary... a pocket dictionary... that I actually own. Maybe it wasn't that much of a costume.

We played games, laughed, and tried to keep the Cowardly Lion from crying. But it was a great night.

Katie...

Where do I begin. Katie is... scary. I need to be honest. She terrifies me. She terrifies Doug. She terrifies Trent. There was one time that Doug rolled a watermellon off of the counter and onto the floor just to avoid her scowl. I'm not even making that up, he did it on purpose. Trent and I ran. I don't know how Doug survived. I think she made him pick it all up, with his mouth. And it was a 15 pound watermellon. We didn't see Doug for two weeks after that.

But secretly, this power comes in handy. You see, before Katie came along we had no way to sneak our food into movie theaters. I know, random, but stay with me. At first her scowl was enough to make the theater employees avoid us. But we quickly realized this would not last for long. That's when Katie came up with this wonderful idea.

I know you won't believe me, but this photo was taken long before Addaly. That bump is all food to be snuck into the theater. Thanks Katie.

Something most people don't know about Katie is that she is terribly allergic to
metal. It doesn't matter if it's gold, silver, copper, iron, or steel. Whatever, if it is metal she has a terrible allergic reaction. It's really bizarre to see, but when she comes in contact with metal her face kind of twitches and her cheeks and lips get really tight. It almost looks like she is smiling, but it's much worse. It's not painful... at least not for her. For others it can cause some minor discomfort. Here, this should explain. The best thing about Katie is that she can take a joke. She gives them pretty well, too. Most of the time she stops after making us cry, but she never apologizes. Katie is really awesome and she's a wonderful mother to Addaly. Here is a good photo, I hope it makes up for the others. It's Addaly, Katie, and Herbert. Herbert is the giraffe's name in case you are confused Trent.

Addaly... again.

I think she's all set for any situation...

Doug...

So I shall continue the description of each member of my family. Next up is Doug. For those of you who still haven't figured it out, Trent is the youngest, Doug is in the middle, and I'm the oldest (Dirk). Doug is married to Katie and they are the proud parents of Addaly. He currently earns a living selling knives door to door. It's kind of weird. I don't really understand if he carries the knives with him or not. If he does, I hope he has a fancy case, otherwise he just looks crazy, walking around waving knives at people. He seems to do well, though. We know this because Katie and Doug just purchased this beauty.

Now the only thing left to do is sell all of his stuff and move onto his boat. There is only one thing holding him back... sharks. Ironically that is the main reason he wants to live on the boat as well. Food won't be a problem Doug has mastered the art of living off of the land... or in this case water. This picture shows what I mean.

That's a huge fish. It took him an hour just to get it to the net. Those are the monsters you catch when you use the Banjo Minnow... Now Doug needs to figure out a way to get his boat out of Tooele and into the water.
